Professor Květoslav Chvatik, longtime member of the Fachgruppe Literaturwissenschaft Universität Konstanz, who has died aged 86 in Constance in Germany, was among the most significant Czech aestheticians and literary theorists of the last cemtury and a leading advocate of Structuralist aesthetics. He was also one of the founding members of the Czech (then Czechoslovak) Society for Aesthetics.
