Czech Society for Aesthetics was founded in 1968 as a member society of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, and has been since 1991 a member of the Council of Scientific Societies of the Czech Republic, which serves as an umbrella organization for currently 72 scientific societies in the Czech Republic.
Among the founding members of the society were such leading scholars as Jan Mukařovský or Jan Patočka.
The main activity of the Czech Society for Aesthetics consists of organizing public lectures and conferences.
